New, independent music… Pitchfork…

Friends,
A few years ago, and I honestly don’t remember how long ago, I discovered the best indy music website on the net: Pitchfork Media. Without knowing the history of this site, who it was, or what it was I started regularly reading it and discovering some interesting new music. My recent fave is JJ who can be seen here in an excellent mashup video. Anyway, its just the most interesting, snarkiest, most nonsensical insider, reviews of music you’ve probably never heard of ever. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes I wonder about people, and other times I don’t.
I wonder what people are thinking when they write jokes on church signs. I picture an old woman named Marge, maybe the secretary of a church, typing them up in the basement of the church. Maybe it’s a contest each week.
I mean is that really what their constituents want? A joke about Moses in relation to the Redskins? Or are they trying to attract new members? Do they get feedback telling them the number one reason I came to this new church is the knee slapper on the sign. They came expecting more jokes. I think that would backfire. I mean it’s like going to a comedy club and instead getting something in latin. Let’s think about that next time.
I also wonder about gas station managers with the same type of plastic-lettered signs, quoting religious texts. I mean when I’m filling up my car at the Quik n’ Easy, I’m not usually tallying my sins. Usually, I’m just trying to calculate how close I was to running out of gas on the side of the road. I get excited when I get 10.8 gallons in my 11 gallon tank. So close!

Manifest Manifesto - Why We Done Did It
Our FranklyDankly blog shall seek to convey our rational and irrational thoughts and feelings in a frank, and truthful manner. We endeavor to transmit posts to amuse, anger, outrage, and delight us, and maybe even other people as well. These may include, but not be limited, to:
- our interests,
- our likes, and dislikes,
- our encounters with animals,
- our encounters with our natural and unnatural surroundings,
- the adventures of those we know, do not know, and make up
We welcome your comments, concerns, and other input, as well as your mental health issues. But please remember it’s a lot easier to get into an asylum than it is to get out.
